MarketHive map tools provide basic map navigation and changing the appearance of themes, such as visibility, classification and displaying coverage areas for FM and TV stations. The MarketHive map interface also provides general reporting that displays information about a media outlet or county. More specific information regarding demographic profiles for a given FM or TV coverage area can also be generated. The demographic profiles contain more than 90 elements of population, housing and commuter information for a select coverage area.

How do I use the MarketHive tools?

Map navigation is composed of Zooming and Panning
Zooming requires the user to simply move the slider bar up to zoom in and down to zoom out.
Panning is conducted on the Inset Map of the state. To pan to a new location either click on a new location on the Inset Map, or drag the shaded box to a new location on the Inset Map.
Original View is a short-cut method to quickly take the map display back to a view of the entire state.

Visibility is controlled by the circle buttons next to the Theme Name
Theme Visibility is On if the circle next to the Theme Name is green and Off if the circle is red.
Symbol Size for media locations can be changed using the + or - buttons

Classifying the map using demographic variables
Classify
counties according to a specific demographic variable which can be selected using the drop down list.

Map Information is reported for demographic and media data
Demographic data is displayed in the Map Information area at the county level when the mouse cursor is moved over a county.
Media data is displayed in the Map Information area when the mouse cursor is moved over a media location point.

Displaying Media coverage rings
Temporary display of media coverage rings on the map is accomplished  by moving the mouse cursor over a specific media point location. Once the cursor is over a FM or TV station a coverage ring will appear.
Static display of media coverage rings on the map is accomplished by clicking a specific media point location - this will "hold" the coverage ring in the display. To remove the static coverage ring click the media point location again and the coverage ring will be removed from display in the map.
Demographic Profiles can be created for FM and TV station coverage areas by clicking on the information bar that will automatically appear when a FM or TV station coverage ring is selected in Static mode. Demographic profiles will open in a new page and contain more than 90 summarized demographic values for the selected FM or TV coverage area.

Note: only one FM or TV station coverage area can be displayed at one time.

Locate Radio or TV station
Search for radio and television stations by entering the call letters, or partial call letters of the station. The selected station will be displayed in the map by a coverage ring (FM and TV) or the call letters for AM stations.
