"I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver." ~ Maya Angelou
Never underestimate the power of giving. Giving is one of the most powerful and empowering things a person can practice every day. There is an enormous beauty that happens in the process of giving that completely changes the world you're living in. When you're giving of yourself, you are literally expanding your energy outwards to include someone else. Even if for just a brief moment, your energy is enveloping them like a warm loving hug.
So then what is an Enlightened Giver? This is a human being who sets their ego aside to give freely from a heart space with complete detachment from receiving anything back in return. This level of giving often stems from having deep feelings of compassion for others, and compassion for ourselves as well.
In enlightened giving, there is no ego controlling how much is given and no fear of giving too much. There is no holding onto life with enlightened giving. You give freely because you know deep in your heart that the Universe is overflowing with abundance and that you will always be abundant no matter how much you give away.
Abundance consciousness is what allows the Enlightened Giver to be completely detached from receiving anything in return. Paradoxically, this detached attitude keeps the giver in an expanded and receptive state no matter if his or her ego is open to receiving from the Universe.
The Enlightened Giver lives and breathes in a natural state of divine abundance. This level of consciousness creates an attitude in which the more you give away, the more abundant you feel and this has a direct impact on the material reciprocation you manifest into your life.
"Health is the greatest gift. Happiness is the greatest wealth. Trustworthy is the greatest relative. Enlightenment is the greatest Bliss." ~ Buddha
By giving a gift, it will come in one of the 5 love languages. Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch. Perhaps it shows up as a compliment, an act of service like helping a friend figure a problem out, quality time is making time to get together and connect just to be with someone you care about, a physical gift could be giving someone homeless a bag of apples, and physical touch could be a hug, kiss, massage, or making love.
When you give something from your heart, you are literally sending your energy into the person, and connecting with their heart on an intimate energetic level. The moment giving happens, you create a positive shift in your energetic field.
Every time you give something away without expectation of anything back in return, you create a kind of vacuum space inside, which actually causes you to receive something even more amazing back from the Universe. We are just like the ocean, when there is an ebb of energy, the flow must naturally follow.
We are all connected to the Ocean. We are like individual droplets of water that together create the great ocean of life. We are not separate from each other even if we live on the other side of the planet. It is a beautiful thing to remember. Each person is really a part of you. The illusion of separation (Maya) is deeply embedded in our subconscious mind and is something humanity has been learning how to transcend for many thousands of years.
"You give but little when you give your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give." ~ Kahlil Gibran
Perhaps you only think about giving gifts for the holiday season or special occasions. Yet, the enlightened giver is one who engages in this precious act every day...all year long! Imagine how you'd feel by giving a Christmas gift to a random stranger every day for a year. I think you'd go to bed with a smile more often than not.
I invite you to visualize how rich your life would be when you constantly give something to someone from your heart every single day. Just give one thing, in a non-attached way that is full of abundance. By embracing this path of enlightened giving you will experience a tremendous heart opening accompanied by an outpouring of continual blessings from the Universe. I challenge you to take on this new way of being as part of your commitments for 2020 and see all of the magic that naturally unfolds in your life.
"There is a wonderful mythical law of nature that the three things we crave most in life -- happiness, freedom, and peace of mind -- are always attained by giving them to someone else. " ~ Peyton Conway March
So how can you become a conscious Enlightened Giver all year long? First, look inside and ask yourself, "How can I share my love in a way which I truly enjoy?" You have a gift to offer others on this planet that would instantly enrich their lives. You are a unique expression of the Divine, and thus you have much to contribute to those around you. I invite you to write down some of the ways that you could use your talents and abilities to help others.
One powerful way of giving to your world is through the gift of loving words. The most powerful words to give away are words of praise and appreciation. Each time you praise another or appreciate them in some way, you send out positive energy to the people around you which in turn creates the kind of world you want to live in. The beautiful thing about giving loving words is that it is contagious.
When you praise or appreciate someone, you create good feelings in the recipient of your kind words which they in turn tend to pass on to others in their world. The more you praise and thank others, the more praise and appreciation comes back to you. So from this day forward, consciously practice praising and thanking all who you come in contact with from the store clerk to your beloved partner.
Ultimately, it doesn't really matter what you give of yourself, but that you break out of the ego and let go of holding back your love from others. This love is what truly matters in the end. This daily practice will take you into the state of enlightened giving. If each of us commits to doing this, our world will profoundly shift into one that is full of loving-kindness, and prosperity for all.
Below I would like to invite you to give the gift of supporting children who have far less than you do. I have personally visited this orphanage in Tiruvannamalai India many times (spent my birthday there) and these beautiful kids are always in need of more food, supplies for clean water, and people to give them love. They are amazing children and this good deed will come back to you later! It's something you can always feel good about after the day is done...enjoy!
