WHAT IF THE WALLS WE BUILD TO KEEP OTHERS OUT… ARE THE SAME WALLS THAT KEEP US TRAPPED INSIDE?
People don’t build walls because they want to shut others out. They build them because, at some point, the world taught them it was safer that way.
Because too often, the world isn’t built to understand - it’s built to categorize.
It’s easier to label than to listen.
It’s easier to judge than to hold space.
It’s easier to stay safe behind our own walls than to risk being truly seen.
But here’s the paradox: We don’t just push others away when we build these walls ~ we keep ourselves locked in.
Because deep down, every human being longs for the same thing: ~
To be seen, not just observed.
To be understood, not just tolerated.
To be held, not just judged.
Maybe the real problem was never that people hide. Maybe the real problem is that they never felt safe enough to be seen.
And if we stop reinforcing these walls - if we truly see each other beyond the labels ~ That’s the moment they start to fall.
Because freedom doesn’t come from tearing others down. It comes from letting ourselves be fully seen ~ even when the fear is there.
