Bridging The Gap In Nutrition

Posted by Bobby Brown on August 23, 2023 - 9:33pm

In today’s world, we are surrounded by highly processed foods that tempt us wherever we go. Relying solely on diet to fulfill nutritional needs may not be attainable by many of us. The difference between the nutrients that we obtain from our diet and the levels required for optimum health creates an invisible ‘nutrition gap’.

Chances are, you may argue that you’ve been striving to put all you’ve learned about a healthy diet into action. If so, you are doing great! But here’s the thing, let’s be honest, none of us eat a perfect diet all the time. On one hand, we set high goals for ourselves, but don’t always achieve them. There’s nothing wrong with that! As human beings, food carries much more profound meanings than just nutrients for our survival. On the other hand, it is, unfortunately, very difficult to obtain optimum levels of nutrients from diet alone, even when eating healthily. Soil depletion, transport, storage, GMOs and deep ploughing all affect the nutrient content of our food.

The ‘nutrition gap’, characterizing in malnutrition and nutrition deficiency, can have a detrimental effect on health and susceptibility to disease. It can increase the risk of many medical conditions as well as accelerating chronic diseases and aging. To bridge the gap between the ideal and real life when it comes to how and what we eat, supplementation has provided us with a convenient alternative method of getting the extra nutrients that we need.

Colostrum as an essential part of our daily diet

Colostrum has been popular in recent years due to its proven benefits of supporting immune function and gut health.

Colostrum is the first ‘whole food’ that mammals are blessed with at the start of their lives. It is a superfood that provides many functional components important to our health that other exotic plant based superfoods cannot provide. Apart from high vitamin and mineral content, colostrum is also rich in immunoglobulins, proline-rich polypeptides, lactoferrins and naturally occurring growth factors. These functional components support our immune defence against harmful substances (bacteria, viruses and allergens) and promote tissue repairing, especially in the gut tract. Colostrum can be consumed at other phases of life. It is recommended to be taken as an essential part of our daily diet.
