If you think Medicare is free, guess again.

Depending on your specific coverage and your use of the health-care system, the amount you pay out-of-pocket could climb well into six-figure territory over the course of your retirement, according to a report from the Employee Benefit Research Institute.

“Some are surprised that, after working for decades and paying Medicare taxes, they still have to shell out money..

while many offer low premiums—sometimes as low as $0 per month—the devil is in the details. You will find that many plans unexpectedly won't cover certain expenses when you get sick—resulting in unforeseen out-of-pocket costs for you—and what they pay can differ depending upon your overall health

Financial Experts Say:   that a 65-year old will need $285,000 to cover health care expenses that Medicare does not pay for.

Of people without extra coverage beyond basic Medicare, 28% have either struggled to pay their medical bills or to get needed care due to the cost, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

The government pays corporate health insurers a flat upfront payment to cover care for enrollees through Medicare Advantage, with little if any regard to the cost or quality of services each plan offers. These insurers have a compelling financial incentive to spend as little as possible on enrollees’ care and pocket as much of the money they receive as possible. While there is technically a limit on the amount they can pocket, they have ways to game that limit.

IS THERE AN OPTION FOR ADULTS 65 AND OVER?

Individuals 65 and older with Medicare Parts A and B can be members of Health Sharing. And, with  Health Sharing, you will find a lot of the same things you expect from typical healthcare coverage, and so much more!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Sharing  for Seniors simplifies the healthcare experience.

AND PRESCRIPTIONS?

After your PRA has been met, the prescription amount may be shared as follows:

  • For prescription costs to be eligible for Sharing, members must also have Medicare Part D as well.
  • After the first $25 on generic drug prescription.
  • After the first $50 on brand name prescription when a generic is unavailable.
