Once I Was Blind: Now I Can See

Posted by Bobby Brown on January 30, 2025 - 1:37pm

The day the blind man sees, he throws away the stick that has been helping him all his life because he no longer needs it.  This symbolizes a profound transformation—when we gain new understanding, awareness, or freedom, we naturally let go of what once guided us in our limitations. This concept applies deeply to life. Often, we rely on habits, beliefs, or coping mechanisms to navigate difficulties, much like the blind man’s stick. It provides comfort, security, and a sense of control.

But when we experience a breakthrough—whether it’s gaining wisdom, healing, or overcoming a struggle—we realize that what once sustained us is no longer necessary. Letting go is not an act of rejection, but an act of moving forward.  The blind man’s stick was never a burden; it was essential in his journey. But the moment he sees, he steps into a new reality—one that no longer requires the old tools of survival. In our own lives, this could mean releasing self-doubt when we finally believe in ourselves, stepping away from toxic relationships when we discover our worth, or letting go of fear when we embrace faith.  Sometimes, what helped us in the past can hold us back if we refuse to move on.

This story teaches us to embrace change and trust the journey. Growth often requires letting go, even of things that once feltessential. What "stick" in your life are you holding onto that you  might not need anymore? LEARN MORE
