Medical cost sharing is a fairly new concept for many Americans, so let's make sure that you understand how medical costsharing membership works and what exactly happens if you have unexpected medical bills or as we call it, a medical need. When you join New Health, you join a flexible monthly membership that allows you to participate in sharing other members medical needs as well as having this community share in your needs. Should the unexpected happen upon joining, you will choose an Initial Unshakable Amount or PRA.
Initial Unshakable Amounts range from 500 dollars to 10 thousand dollars. This means that if you have unexpected medical costs, this will be the amount that you are responsible for and all costs that go over this amount will be shareable with our community. Based on your initial unshakable amount, you will contribute a monthly share. These shares all go into an ever-growing community fund. So let's say that you are a healthy and happy member. You've chosen 1500 dollars initial unshakable amount and you simply share your contribution each month. Then the unexpected happens and you are in a car accident.
You were taken by ambulance to the ER. You were in the hospital for five days and receive x-rays. Maris have surgery, postsurgery, physical therapy, and you've been given prescription medication. Now, you have over 76 thousand dollars in medical bills from the car accident.
Because you are a new health member, your total member cost is only 1500 dollars which as you remember is your initial unshakable amount and the remaining cost is shared with your community. This is why Health Sharing gives our members the peace of mind they've been looking for.
