Most of the time, when people talk about their problems, they are just venting and complaining. Even when friends give them advice, they are often ignored, and people go back to the same patterns of behavior. Next time you have an issue, ask yourself, “how can I solve this problem?” For example, if your co-worker is getting on your nerves, maybe you should have a calm and professional conversation with them. Or, if the problem is really serious, go to your supervisor. Almost all problems (except life, death, and taxes) can be solved as long as you are willing to find a solution.
