Do Your Work

Welcome to Six Minutes.

I’m going to give you a quote by a man Dean Briggs that I found in the ”Lead the Field” program many years ago. I’ve burned it into my mind, I’ve shared it with thousands of people and every one of them loves it. Just see you and I are going to run into problems, challenges, things that cause us to stumble as we go through the day. And some of these things will make us feel like we want to quit like what’s the use? It happens to everyone. Well every one of those problems every one of those challenges have a purpose.

They’re sent to you to cause you to grow. See if just good things happened all the time your life would be very dull. Do you know what makes your life exciting makes your life really worthwhile? The challenges that you come up against, and as you overcome them you raise yourself to a new level and everything looks better. It’s like Johnny Nash, “I can see clearly now the rain is gone. I can see all obstacles in my way.”

Well this quote is going to help you do that. When you run into problems Dean Briggs says, “Do your work; not just your work and no more but a little more for the lavishing’s sake, that little more which is worth all the rest, and if you suffer as you must then you doubt as you must, do your work, and the sky will clear and then out of your very doubt and suffering will be born the supreme joy of life.” Now I’m going to repeat that for you. Because when time comes that you just feel like throwing in the towel and quitting. Something inside’s saying go for it, keep going, you’ve got it. Burn this poem into your mind. “Do your work; not just your work and no more, but a little more for the lavishing’s sake, that little more which is worth all the rest and if you suffer as you must then you doubt as you must, do your work and the sky will clear and then out of your very doubt and suffering will be born the supreme joy of life.”

Do you just love that? I love it my God I do love it! Well burn it into your mind. And you’re going to love it. And you know something? When you come that close to quitting it’ll open up and you’ll say I’m not quitting I’m going to do my work, I’m going to do that little more for the lavishing’s sake. You know it’ll work, I know it will work and that poem is going to help you get Results that Stick.

This is Bob Proctor, thank you.
