Capital Art Fantastic paintings of Edinburgh's magnificent past

Edinburgh is a city of famous landmarks. As the Scottish capital welcomes the world to the Edinburgh Festival this August, we take a look at how artists such as Edinburgh Castle, Grass Market and Princes Street have been handled by artists.

The former Scottish capital provides a unique backdrop for the Edinburgh Festival. The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoos occupy the walks of the fort, a group of people running along with French buildings and Princes Street and the Grass Market on University buildings.

Take a look at the great image archive at Art UK to see what these popular places look like.
