Ramanujan is considered to be one of the great mathematicians of all time. He was raised in a poor Indian Brahmin family and had very limited access to any form of education. At the age of 15, he was fortunate to have received a copy of Pure Mathematics, a summary of the car. Apparently, this book set him on the task of proving all the results before the car.
With a keen interest in mathematics, Ramanujan ignored all other subjects, which meant that he could not actually pass the entrance examination at Madras University. However, by continuing his research on mathematics, he became one of the leading mathematicians in the region. In 1913 he sent a letter to GH Hardy, one of England's leading mathematicians. Hardy advised that although some results were already known, many of Ramanujan's ideas were completely fresh and original. In fact, he said that Ramanujan was a high-ranking mathematician. Hardy then ranked all the mathematicians over time, giving Ramanujan the highest rank.
Together they published many contributions and articles, to the point that Ramanujan was a Fellow of the Royal Society until 1918. That same year he was elected Fellow of Cambridge Trinity College. Unfortunately, Ramanujan had always suffered from poor health. On his return to India he lived only one year and died in 1920.
Before he died, however, he wrote a whole new topic for mathematics, called pseudo-theta functions. Some Hardeler was able to publish it through some letters that he had received from Ramanujan before his death. However, most of it was a complete mystery. Even more surprising was that much later in 1976, the American mathematician George Andrews reviewed a box of papers in Cambridge. He found what is now called a lost notebook.
This notebook has all the consequences of these mysterious fake data jobs! Andrew's discoveries change the landscape of modern mathematics. Many believe the lost notebook to be Ramanujan's greatest work. Even after hundreds of years, the topics and functions in his notebook are still widely discussed at conferences worldwide.
