It’s tougher than ever for most people. There are so many people who create content — they’re on several different platforms and they look so amazing, so you might be wondering how you can grab people’s attention…
That’s why inside this post, I am going to give you six brilliant tactics that you can employ right away to help you stand out on Social Media!
Are you ready? Let’s dive right in!
Do you ever get stuck? And you don’t know what to do or post, so you can stand out on social media?
One of the things I would like to mention (what not to do before we get into what to do) is don’t get into posting what you think will get likes and engagement! Of course, some of what I am going to suggest here will get you likes, engagement and leads. But I don’t want you to put on a facade. In other words, I don’t want you to post something just because someone else is doing it.
I get it. At first, you might not know what to post, because maybe you’re not used to posting consistently. You’re just used to posting about your family or funny things. Don’t stop doing that and don’t stop being you!
What’s more, sometimes you feel like you have to act as if you’re more perfect than you are. But people love imperfections! People love to relate to you and your story! So don’t feel like you have to put on a front and act as if you’re someone you’re not. People can smell a fake a mile away!
You need to make a decision — which is going to be your main platform?
If you’re one of those ambitious entrepreneurs and you’re trying to market all these different things at the same time, but you don’t have one consistent income stream yet, you need to focus.
So choose one platform and one business. Then you can zoom in on it and be laser focused. That’s when you know you’re going to make it happen!
Don’t look at posting as a chore. In order for you to build a following, you need to lead the way. However, it’s also important to remember that in order to be a leader, you have to be a follower first.
For example, before my friend could teach TikTok, she followed some very simple steps that were laid out by experts, so she could learn how the platform worked. It’s similar to when you’re learning a new language. After a while, you get confident and you start to speak. Then you gain even more confidence and the cycle continues.
Don’t overthink it and don’t get stuck in what your brand is, who your Lifer is, or what you should talk about. It’s like playing a sport — you have to pick up the ball and try it out.
So start with things that you actually know about or things that you’re learning. You don’t have to talk about things that you’re not interested in or things that you feel like are the “right things to talk about”. There’s no such thing. If you’re not interested in a certain conversation, you’re not going to show up with the right energy and you won’t get the results you really want.
So just start with something! What’s beautiful is that you’re building a personal brand. And the definition of a personal brand is that it’s always evolving. So don’t be so afraid to make a decision on a topic because when you start putting yourself out there and you start creating conversations around it, you will notice what’s right for you.
This is a very important tip that will definitely help you stand out! Don’t post and ghost! Build relationships! Ask your audience questions and look for their answers!
You can do a simple post in your Story. I did this a while back and I said, “Hey, I would love to hear from you. So curious, why is it that you follow me? If we could spend a day together and I could help you, what would be the number one struggle I could help you with?”
Pose that question in your Story, or whatever your number one platform is, and then write down the feedback that you get. You’re going to see what your people are struggling with, so you can curate your content around how you can help them. It’s that simple.
And if you’re thinking to yourself, “I put out a post and I only got a couple of people responded”, that’s great. Build relationships with those 2 people. It starts somewhere! And if you can help 2 people, you can help 20, and if you can help 20, you can help 200!
What’s good for one is good for a million. Sometimes, you might feel ashamed of the size of your audience, and I want to touch on that. Because the truth is, if you have 2 followers, that’s amazing. That’s 2 people who see value in you. Don’t be so afraid to start small!
Pre-recorded videos or going Live — whatever modality you choose, video marketing is the bomb dot com!
What can you talk about? How about 3 tips on a topic you like? Think about what your personality is and how you want to show up to the world. Sometimes you might not know what to talk about. Great. Go interview someone else and get them to do all the work. All you got to do is ask questions and smile. Highlight other people, and you’ll be blown away by how effective that can be.
Mix it up — figure out what you feel like would be impactful for your friends, for the people listening, or watching, or for those people who don’t even know you yet. How can you show up with your personality? And how can you show up with value that you feel like the person watching is going to appreciate?
Are you a little bit nervous about creating videos? My very best tip for you is when you look into the camera dot, pretend like you’re talking to your best friend. Be okay with failing your way to the top.
What is the ultimate hack to being successful in anything? It’s showing up consistently! That’s it! No matter what you do, if you keep showing up, you will win!
The problem is that people get excited and they hit it hard. But after a while, they relax for a month and their following shifts their attention to someone else.
Another issue that I have seen is people saying it’s not working. But the truth is, they just haven’t been doing it long enough to get the desired results.
Here’s the deal. When I first started doing Facebook Live, I would get 100-200 views organically. Then, the results dipped and I started wondering what I was doing wrong or if the algorithm got me.
The truth is, maybe it was the algorithm, but mostly it was because over a period of time a lot of other people started doing videos. So whatever ideas you might have — test them out! Some of your videos are going to suck and that’s all right.
To this day, there are videos where I wrap them up and I will be like, “I don’t feel like I was on topic.” But you know what? I still get some positive messages and people thanking me. That’s how you know you’re headed down the right path — when people start to say thank you for your message. It’s not always about making a buck. But it does pay off in the long run. Why? It’s because they’ve seen you showing up over a period of time.
You have to think long term. The time is going to pass anyway, and you’re going to either wish you built a brand and showed up consistently or you’re going to regret not doing those daily disciplines. As the saying goes, the pain of discipline weighs ounces; the pain of regret weighs tons.
These were our 6 tactics to help you stand out on Social Media. Which one did you like best? Do you have any other tactics that have worked for you? Let me know in the comments! And if you found value in this post, share it with your teammates. They’ll love you extra!
