Killing COVID distraction

The most dangerous distractions are the ones you love, but that don’t love you back.” Warren Buffet

I hope you have had a productive week, but maybe you haven’t…

I’ve always had challenges with distraction. I’ve noticed that since the onset of the COVID lockdown (whatever you want to call it) it’s harder than ever to stay on task, to actually get stuff done.

My speculation is that you might be experiencing some of the same anxiety and concern.

Here are some basic tips from someone who’s worked mostly from home since the last recession wiped me out…

#1 - Business as close to usual as possible

Continue to “go to work” even if work is now from the back bedroom or the kitchen table

Schedule things meticulously including breaks and appointments

Pay attention to look as if you are going to the office

#2 - Take care of your health

A 20-minute walk (I love the free Sweatcoin app) or 7-minute workout.

Get plenty of sleep - don’t get caught up in too much late-night TV

Eat healthily - maybe try a little intermittent fasting

#3 - Keep your mind clear

15 months ago I started meditating. I like the free app “InsightTimer”. Helps me a lot

When I’m in front of my computer I use the Pomodoro method and listen to Focus@Will

Watch the substance use. Moderation is more important than ever.

And finally, reach out to more people. Like the folks on Markethive...

I know it sounds "trite" but we are always, "better together".

Be good to yourself, be kind to others (especially the ones that don't deserve it) and remember God is on your side (and that's enough for me and a lot of other people to be on your side too)

Bill Bateman That you all for the kind words. Hope everyone is getting more done and that it's more of the really important stuff.
