New Mexico is a small state with about 2,100,000 residents in the 5th largest state (in terms of total land area)
Only 45,000 people enrolled in an ACA/Obamacare plan in 2019.
Less than 2,000 of them paid the full premium. All the rest we subsidized (that means they paid less than the full premium).
Many of those who were subsidized also received government help paying their deductibles and copayments.
So if you live in New Mexico and don't have coverage through Medicare, Medicaid or a Group Health Insurance plan it's likely that you can get the health insurance coverage that you can afford.
9.78 versus 9.86
In general, this year the MOST you can pay for Obamacare coverage is 9.78 percent of your income, down from 9.86 percent last year. Your premium may be higher, but it will be subsidized by the government down to that percentage.
