Welcome to Markethive

Why getting a little better every week is the best way to get what you want

I’m reading a book called “The Kaizen Way” by Rober Maurer Ph.D and find it's simple truths and suggestions both inspiring and practical.

You probably have heard of kaizen, the Japanese technique of achieving great and lasting success through small, steady steps. That’s essentially the topic of the book.

The key is to counter the “fight-or-flight” brain chemistry that people naturally have towards fearing change.

The goal you are striving to achieve might be as simple as losing some weight, being better rested or saving more money.

Then again the goal might be as lofty as building a multi-million dollar business with great net profit margins managed in high quality, measurable way by great employees starting from scratch.

Regardless of the complexity or size of the goal, kaizen follows the same patterned steps…

  • Ask Small Questions
  • Think Small Thoughts
  • Take Small Actions
  • Solve Small Problems
  • Bestow Small Rewards
  • Identify Small Moments
  • Embrace and strengthen the philosophy

It’s a great, easy read (and that’s coming from someone who’s Attention Deficit disorder tendencies make reading an arduous task.

Thinking about social media marketing, including this MarketHive platform, the kaizen principles can only help.

Don’t try to learn everything in a day. Learn a little each day. In a year you’ll have the “multiplier effect” that will put you in the top 10 percent of everyone using social media.

In a few short years, you really can have that “laptop lifestyle” (if that’s what you are striving for).

There are tools that every business needs to operate effectively online. Things like Webinars, automated marketing funnels and customer relationship management can seem overwhelming but they don't have to be. A "toolkit" I like is GetResponse. For about a dollar day you can build your list and your online presence a little at a time.

Charles Phillips Reminds me of the saying: "Yard by yard it's hard, inch by inch it's a cinch"

Bill Bateman Sometimes a "little reminder" is the best :). You and I have known and known about this concept for decades but along the way we get distracted. A little improvement every day. That's the way of Kaizen.
