Pregnancy requires mothers to be healthy, not just for their own sake but also for the welfare of their babies. Even post-pregnancy, it’s a must that mothers maintain a healthy body. A healthy body can help mothers cope with the pressure of being a parent and also help them cope from the pains they got from intense labor during childbirth.
Breastfeeding is good for babies. A healthy diet is required for all breastfeeding moms to ensure that all the important nutrients that are needed for proper growth and development are passed on the baby. A balanced diet will also help your body to produce milk and replenish all those nutrients that are being lost from your body.

Here are some foods that are proven to help new moms maintain a healthy body post-pregnancy.

 

1. Eggs

Eggs contain a lot of protein plus a good balance of amino acids. These components can give the proper stamina to take care of you and your baby’s needs. Egg yolks are also a natural source of vitamin D, a nutrient that is essential for bone growth. The choline in eggs can also help in building the memory center of your baby’s brain.

Oatmeal is a lactogenic food. The high fiber content f oatmeal makes it easy to digest. This is recommended for new mothers who are suffering from post-natal constipation—a common occurrence after birth.

3. Salmon

Salmon is a rich source of the good cholesterol known as omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. DHA helps in the development of your baby’s nervous system.
