3 Ways That May Lower Your Cancer Risk
Learn 3 key ways that may lower your cancer risk

We often think of cancer as something that just randomly happens.

While this may true to some extent, there are a number of things that increase and lower the risk of getting certain cancers. Some are modifiable, such as diet or behavior, so any change can also change your odds of contracting cancer.

The first thing you can do is to eat a whole food organic diet. We are exposed to hundreds of different chemicals and additives in food, many of which have not been around for long enough to know what they really do in the body. Minimizing your exposure to these chemicals is a good idea.

A second adjustment is to avoid or minimize alcohol. While alcohol may have some benefits for decreasing heart attack risk and improving vascular health, it increases the risk of many cancers. This is most clear for breast cancer, which men also have some risk of getting.

The third thing you can do to lower your cancer risk is to make sure your diet is mostly plant based. Both the types of fibers in plants and the protective antioxidant compounds are good for the cells in your body because they lower inflammation, which is associated with increased cancer risk.

This doesn't mean you have to become a vegetarian - just that most of what you eat should be healthy fruits and vegetables. Minimizing both meat and fried foods is an especially good idea.
