Aging is a natural process, a result of cell degeneration, which can come form the damage to your DNA and cells causes by excess of free radical and oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is the total burden placed on the body by the constant production of free radicals in the normal course of metabolism plus whatever other modern life pressures the environment brings to bear. Miscellaneous sources of oxidizing activity, such as strenuous exercise, sun radiation, pollution tobacco smoke and stress are just a few examples. Aging and age-related chronic conditions reflect the inability of our antioxidant defenses to cope with oxidative stress over time. Excess free radicals are known to damage cells and DNA, slow the body's recovery rate from daily stressors, and ultimately accelerate aging.
The good news is that in promoting and activating our body's natural defense against cell and DNA degeneration through nutrition, we can possibly prevent fast degeneration, help slow aging and prevent chronic conditions.
