Alms Offering & Tin Mining — Participate in a time-honored offering ritual, and learn the historic significance of tin mining in Phuket. The sang kha than ritual is a Buddhist tradition of giving alms to the monks. Aside form its charitable value, the act is believed to confer merit upon the giver, an important tenet of Buddhism. You will have the rare opportunity to personally put together an offering, and donate to the monks at the temple. Then, you will visit the cultural and historic Phuket Mining Museum. In the past, Phuket was a major tin-producing center, and drew thousands of Chinese laborers who eventually settled on the island, contributing to its multicultural identity.
