Are You Unworthy

Posted by Bobby Brown on May 25, 2023 - 12:12pm Edited 5/25 at 12:18pm

The truth is we are all worthy and deserving of love, it's our ego and mind that plays a trick on us causing us to feel unworthy.

The ego uses judgment and comparison to strengthen this feeling of unworthiness because when we're always judging and comparing ourselves to everyone else, we're projecting our own insecurities out into our environment.

There's nothing wrong with self-analyzing and comparison if used in a healthy manner, where it comes from a place of love and striving to improve, but all too often these stem from a place of anger and resentment feeding into our ego's feeling of unworthiness.

Self-love requires self-acceptance, which means accepting all aspects of who we are both the good and the bad.

Self-acceptance requires forgiveness.

Forgiving both ourselves and anyone else who has hurt us because we are not able to move on to a brighter future if we are still holding on to situations and emotions from our past.

Our brain is not able to tell the difference between a memory of past trauma or the situation itself, so when we keep replaying these moments in our heads our brains release the same chemicals keeping our brains and bodies tied to the past.

Through forgiveness, though we are able to break out of the chains of our past and begin to create a new future, where we can fully integrate the wisdom we've acquired from our past with the hope and potential we have in our future.

This means accepting all of our traumas, our pain, our mistakes, and anything else that has caused us to feel unworthy because we can only accept ourselves when we accept our complete selves.

When we accept ourselves we can learn to appreciate ourselves and our unique journey and can appreciate the challenges of our past because they were merely lessons that have made us into who we are today.

Accepting and appreciating ourselves has a snowball effect because then we begin to view our lives in an entirely different light, becoming far more grateful for the world around us.

Affirmations can be a powerful tool to help with self-love and self-acceptance.

The first affirmation I say every single morning is, "I love myself and fully accept myself and all of my imperfections." so that every day is started with me recognizing I love myself despite my human flaws. I repeat this 5x with a giant smile on my face so that I can make sure my brain and body believe what I am saying.

This helps me to start my day off on a positive note and gain momentum for the rest of my day.

I encourage everyone to try this affirmation to see if it may help you as much as it has helped me.
