The museum is home to archeological finds as well as exhibits illustrating the island’s geology, flora and fauna, plus the culture and customs in both ancient and modern Tahiti. Next, you will be welcomed with fine dining at Le Coco’s, a restaurant offering lunch by the shore. Afterward, continue to the beautifully restored Ārahurahu Marae temple, then head southward to a private home with splendid gardens, originally built by English writer Robert Keable in the late 1920s. You will also visit the James Norman Hall House and Point Venus—the historic landing site for explorers, including Captain Bligh in 1788. The 110-foot-tall white lighthouse built here in 1867 still operates to this day.
