Punta Arenas is located in the southern Patagonia region of Chile. It’s located right on the Strait of Magellan and even has a memorial dedicated to the explorer for which the strait is named (Ferdinand Magellan).
Punta Arenas is located amidst jagged mountains and is also a good jumping off point to some of the glaciers in South America, including the icy blue Perito Morena Glacier. Visiting the Magdalena Island Natural Penguin Reserve is also a highlight for many visitors to Punta Arenas.
