Carnival Sunrise arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the very first time to launch new Caribbean cruises from Port Everglades.
The Carnival cruise ship which was transformed from the Carnival Triumph earlier in 2019 has arrived at her new homeport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The ship has launched four-day and five-day cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas.
The first cruise from Port Everglades which departed on October 28 is a sold-out five-day voyage including calls at Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman in the west Caribbean. The vessel will sail almost 40 departures from the port through May 2, 2020.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said:
We are pleased to bring Carnival Sunrise to Port Everglades, providing our guests with more options in sailing from South Florida.”

There was a ceremony held for the ship’s inaugural call at Port Everglades which is traditional in the maritime industry. A plaque was exchanged between the ship’s officers and local officials. A reception and lunch were also held on board not just for officials but travel agents too.
Carnival Sunrise will now be operating four-day cruises to Carnival’s own private island of Half Moon Cay, Princess Cays which is a private destination for Princess Cruises, Grand Turk and Nassau. The five-day cruises will visit the Bahamas, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Dominican Republic, and Grand Turk.
The ship will make a return to Norfolk and New York on the U.S. east coast in May 2020 for the summer season. From Norfolk, there will be five-day and six-day voyages to the Bahamas and four-day cruises to Bermuda. From New York, the vessel will offer eight to twelve-day cruises to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Bermuda, Costa Rica, and Panama Canal.
