In a study published in the Journal of Neurology, the authors suggest that, as well as providing vascular protection, omega 3 fatty acids contained in fish oils could reduce inflammation in the brain and may have a specific role in brain development and regeneration of nerve cells. The study also found that eating fruit and vegetables daily and fish at least once a week can protect against cognitive decline.
Try and eat an oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, sardines or herring 1-2 times per week. These are types of fish that are the most concentrated in omega 3.
