(as a part of success).
You tried something new, and you failed.
Well done.
Well done? How can we celebrate a failure?
Some people see failure as a negative. Yet in reality, successful people see it as a badge of honor. A right of passage. A show of true character. If you’re not failing at something, are you even trying?
As the saying goes - to get something you have never had, you need to do something you have never done! And in doing so, you’re going to have to fail.. and fail hard! The secret is: fail forward! Which means, you continue to get back up, dust yourself off and carry on!
Successful people have a reason to get back up. They create a clear vision of what they want and it makes it easier to ignore the speed humps and challenges that get in the way. Because they know that if you never give up then you have never truly failed!
The Wright brothers were high school dropouts who became bicycle sales and repairmen to capitalize on a national craze. There were others far more qualified and well funded to invent manned-flight, however, few had their vision and passion. They failed plenty. The failed hard. But they failed forward each time because their vision far out-weighed the minor setbacks.
In our business alone there are countless other stories of people failing forward. The struggles you are having are not isolated to you - others have been through the same obstacles and come out the other side..
Stop looking at what others are doing and comparing yourself to them. The beauty of this business is that it is not a race. And the destination is equally worth it.
Start putting yourself in situations where there is risk of failure! Because with failure comes true growth! Doing what you have always done has got you to where you are today - if you want to go further you need to push yourself into the unknown! That is where we grow.
Start disassociating yourself from the outcome! Accept failure! Welcome it! Because it means you are on the right track! Fail… Fail hard… Fail over and often.. do it enough and you will rise one day, and step forward
