Set out on a scenic drive to admire the area’s stunning natural and manmade features, stopping for a clifftop hike. Along the dramatic west coast of Orkney, see the full force of nature as the Atlantic Ocean pounds the beautifully sculptured coastline. Arrive at Yesnaby, a local beauty spot. Enjoy a rejuvenating hike along the clifftops with our local expert guides. We will pass Iron Age Brochs, sea stacks and coves, and will pause to admire the local plant and animal life. Our hike ends with a drop down into Skaill Bay and a visit to the 5,000-year-old village of Skara Brae. Older than Stonehenge, the site has been called the “Scottish Pompeii” because these remarkably preserved dwellings remained hidden beneath the sand dunes until only 150 years ago. Returning to your ship, pass through the Neolithic Heartland of Orkney, an area designated as a World Heritage Site due to its wealth of prehistoric archaeology.
