COLOSTRUM helps to fight Acute and Chronic Gastrointestinal Tract Disease
Colostrum has specific binding activity and complementary action against gastrointestinal pathogens. Thus, it may be targeted towards the treatment of Acute and Chronic Gastrointestinal Disease such as:
Gastric ulcers
Duodenal ulcers
Ulcerative colitis (known as Inflammatory bowel disease)
Crohn's disease ( also referrred to as Inflammatory bowel disease)
Chronic diverticulosis
Irritable bowel disease (IBS)
Pseudomembranous colitis
Antibiotic associated diarrhoea
Travellers diarrhoea (caused by enterotoxigenic E. coli)
Juvenile diarrhoea
Cryptosporidiosis associated diarrhoea
Gastrointestinal Tract Infection (GIT)
The GIT can be infected with bacterial, yeast and parasitic pathogens. This can result in acute infections such as a passing gastroenteritis, or a chronic infection resulting in a chronic disability often characterised by diarrhoea, cramping, urgency, flatulence, nausea and vomiting.
If our immune system and gut microbiome is healthy, they will be capable to remove pathogens such Salmonella, Shigella and other acute viral infections.
However, in some situations, pathogens such as Yersinia enterocolitica and Helicobacter pylori can enter the bowel flora and establish themselves permanently in the bowel.
The infected GIT therefore requires assistance in ridding itself of such infection. Past binding studies have shown that the binding Colostrum may provide a helpful protective effect to the GIT due to its specific activity against the range of bacterial and yeast pathogens responsible for these GIT diseases.
