GETTING THE MOST OUT OF LIFE

Be a Manly Man: Getting the Most Out of Life

When it comes to health and wellness, many men struggle to maintain healthy habits and routines. However, poor dietary habits may catch up with them later in life, as men are more likely to develop cancer and become overweight. Men are even twice as likely to have a heart attack than women! It can be challenging for men to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen, to adopt a restful sleep schedule and practice good stress management. However, these four things can be incredibly beneficial in preventing and even reversing health conditions for men.

As a male, physical activity is one of the most beneficial things that you can do for both short and long-term health. Just 30-45 minutes of walking per day can boost your cardiovascular health and cut the risk of heart disease by 30%. Exercise can also contribute to your brain health by increasing blood flow and even increasing the volume of your hippocampus, a region in the brain responsible for memory and learning. In addition, getting regular physical activity can help you shed some weight, as well as lowering your risk of becoming overweight. As you drop extra pounds, exercise becomes easier over time.

Management of stress and sleep habits is another important step that you can take to improve your health.  Developing healthy sleep habits or good “sleep hygiene” can help you achieve better restorative sleep, by helping to heal the body from the inside out. Better sleep habits can also help your stress levels, making you feel more level-headed and capable of handling daily stressors. Chronic stress can cause or exacerbate many pre-existing health problems such as low mood, anxiety, cardiovascular disease, heart attacks, or stroke. Make sure you’re getting 7-8 hours of deep, restful sleep each night – your future good health depends on it!

Getting into a healthy nutrition habit is the last piece of this puzzle. You already know that eating a diet full of fresh organic fruits, vegetables, and plant-based proteins can benefit your waistline, but keeping your nutrition in check can also help prevent and protect against heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease. You’ll feel better knowing your body is nourished from the inside out!

Maintaining your health by keeping these things in mind is a great way to get ahead of health conditions. In addition, you can take your protection a step further by making sure you get enough vitamins and nutrients each day. Zinc, natural-source vitamin C, vitamin D, B-vitamins, and amino acids such as L-citrulline and L-arginine are all critical for your overall health. If you consume alcoholic beverages, consider adding a liver support supplement containing milk thistle extract to your regimen.

Take a proactive approach to keeping yourself healthy and systematically evaluate your daily routine. You might be surprised at how easy it is to improve your day-to-day health and vitality!
