Heavy coffee consumption linked to higher death risk

Posted by Bobby Brown on June 28, 2020 - 1:40pm

Singing exercises reduce snoring: Could singing be the cure for that stubborn snoring? A new study out of the UK “found that a program of vocal exercises designed by a singing teacher helped reduce snoring.” By strengthening muscles in the throat, these exercises “also alleviated symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea, a condition in which people stop breathing during deep sleep.” Practicing the singing exercises daily “reduced the severity, frequency and loudness of snoring, and improved sleep quality.”

Heavy coffee consumption linked to higher death risk: Adding to the contradictory body of evidence about the benefits and risks of coffee, a new study “finds that heavy coffee consumption is associated with a higher death risk in men and women younger than 55.” The large study of 43,727 participants showed that “men younger than 55 who drank more than 28 cups of coffee a week (four cups of six to eight ounces a day) were 56% more likely to have died from any cause.” Women in the same age range were not immune to the effects of too much coffee, either – they were twice as likely to die as other women. According to one of the researchers, “it seems safe to drink one to three cups of coffee a day.”
