inCruises International, the world’s largest cruise membership club, announced its expansion into Japan today. Launching in Japan is a natural progression of the company’s ongoing expansion into strategic, profitable markets around the globe.

“Launching in Japan is an important part of our global expansion plan,” CEO Michael Hutchison said. “I was grateful to personally meet our team including Mr. Ken Akahori, Mr. Jun Kaneko, Ms. Yui Sawada, and Ms. Hanae Kubota. Our partnership with our Independent Representatives is the key for our continuing success and we are lucky to be surrounded with such polite, kind and hard-working Partners. I was also excited to visit the cruise port of Shimizu and see the majestic Mt. Fujiyama on a clear day.”

“According to data from the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Japan’s ports welcomed 2,378 visits from cruise ships last year, a third of all port calls in Asia, placing the country head-and-shoulders above any other competitor on the continent as a cruise destination,” said inCruises General Counsel Bruce Murdock.

Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s government has an official target to increase the number of tourists who visit Japan by cruise ship to five million by 2020 when Tokyo will play host to the 2020 Summer Olympics.
