Lifestyle choices matter and Harvard Medical School is leading the way by highlighting the importance of lifestyle and featuring a quote from Dr. Friedman stating the closest thing he knows to a wonder drug is…walking. I have said before if lifestyle choices can make us ill, lifestyle choices can make us well!

A term you may not have heard of, but that is growing more familiar each day is nutrigenomics. It is the study of the effects of food and food constituents such as macro and micronutrients on genic expressions. Epigenetics is one of the biggest breakthroughs in the 21st century in understanding our genes are not static but instead are triggered by our lifestyle choices.

For example, vitamins B6, B12 and folate alone help in the production of neurotransmitters, the chemicals that allow your brain and nerve cells to communicate. If deficient, then your neurotransmitter production isn’t fully supported. There is an obvious conclusion to that, but the point here is not to address all the ways to benefit from nutrients but to acknowledge the importance and necessity of nutrients.

Sleep is also one of the most important aspects of your health and especially your brain health. While you are sleeping, it releases the maid service of the brain to clean the toxins and waste protein from your brain. I highly recommend the alert by The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) stating, they officially recommend against treating chronic insomnia with common over-the-counter antihistamine and analgesic sleep aids as well as melatonin and valerian which neither are in Serenity or Adaptuit Sleep.
