Not only is the world in a perpetual state of change but we as individuals are as well.
On a physical level, our bodies are constantly changing and adapting to our environment as our brains receive stimulus and then direct our bodies to react.
Every day our bodies kill about 70 billion old cells and create 70 billion more to take their place, our hormones, neurochemicals, immune system, heart rate are all constantly changing throughout the seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years based on what we choose or choose not to do.
Also with every new experience we have, we are constantly changing as each new experience gives us a new perspective and literally changes the structure of our brains as new neural connections are made.
This is why it's so important to constantly be learning new things and seeking new experiences so that we can continually cause neurons to fire and wire together creating new neural pathways giving us bigger, better functioning brains.
By consistently learning new things, gaining new experiences, and rewiring our brains we literally evolve and become entirely new people.
Evolving as individuals help us adapt and be successful in any circumstance this crazy ever-changing world might throw our way.
And in a world that's constantly changing if we're not evolving, we're regressing as we become complacent and stay inside our comfort zones, allowing the world to leave us behind.
We can't continue to operate exactly how we did 5 years ago and expect the same level of success, we must always be contemplating ways we can improve whether that be in our relationships, our work, our health, our spirituality, there's always some area of our life we could improve in some way if we tried.
To me, the biggest compliment someone we haven't seen for a while can give us is that we've changed and the biggest insult would be them saying we're exactly the same.
When we quit trying to improve our brains begin to shut down and go into autopilot mode which contributes to developing neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's.
Our brain is like a muscle if we don't use it we lose it, so it's vital for our cognitive health and performance to consistently be challenging ourselves by gaining new knowledge and experiences.
TODAY CHOOSE TO EVOLVE NOT REGRESS!!!
