Much of our pain and all of our suffering comes from our own minds.
"Pain is inevitable: suffering is optional." - Haruki Murakami
Most of the time we are either focusing on past events or people that hurt us or worrying about some made-up future events, picturing all the possible ways in which it could go wrong.
All this does is take us out of living in the present causing us to deal with unnecessary physical and mental stress.
The past is in the past and there's nothing we can do to change it so there's no point in dwelling on it since it's a waste of energy and can lead to depression.
When we constantly think about the past we're giving some past circumstance power over us in the present, robbing us of our own personal power.
The future is not here yet so there's no point in getting all worked up over it, constantly thinking and worrying about what might possibly go wrong.
This constant worrying of the future leads to anxiety, and that anxiety causes people to not take action because they're afraid they're going to fail.
The present moment is all we ever truly have since we are constantly in the present. We literally can not be anywhere else.
Yet so many of us are so worried about some past or future event we rob ourselves from truly being present because our minds are off worrying somewhere else.
Focus on bringing your awareness into the present moment in everything that you do and watch how your life begins to evolve.
LEARN FROM YOUR PAST
PLAN FOR YOUR FUTURE
BUT DO NOT DWELL ON EITHER
AND LIVE IN THE PRESENT
