Male-Pattern Baldness May Be Linked to Increased Risk of Heart Disease

Male-Pattern Baldness May Be Linked to Increased Risk of Heart Disease: After analyzing data from six different studies, researchers have found a link between “baldness and indicators of heart disease, such as having a heart attack or needing bypass surgery.” However, don’t rush to your cardiologist at the first sign of hair loss! The link, they say, is modest and much weaker than that of “well-known risk factors such as smoking, obesity and high blood pressure.” Researchers were unable to explain why the two were connected.

Handling Stress Poorly Now May Result in Mental Illness Later: A recently published study from researchers at the University of California-Irvine “analyzed data on 711 men and women, ages 25 to 74, who were interviewed two times, 10 years apart.” They found that those “who responded to stress with more anxiety and sadness than the average person were much more likely to have self-reported anxiety and mood disorders and psychological distress 10 years later.”
