Meditation has been around for centuries, dating as far back as ancient Asia, and has been used as a technique to help one become more centered, grounded, and focused. However, if you ever tried to practice meditation, you have undoubtedly run into a minor issue: you couldn’t actually get your mind to shut off.

What am I making for dinner?

Did I pay the internet bill?

Do I have everything ready to go for tomorrow’s meeting at work?

These types of thoughts can plague our brains and make meditation nearly impossible. So how do we gain the benefits of meditation and achieve optimal awareness when we can’t get our brains to focus?

Our solution is by turning to Seismic6

MEDITATION: ORIGINS AND BENEFITS

Many historians have come to the consensus that meditation originated over 5,000 years ago in Eastern Asia. The first document practice was by the Vedas in ancient India around 1,500 BCE. The health benefits are obvious, otherwise, the practice wouldn’t have withstood the test of time.

One of the benefits is that it is an instrumental tool for combating anxiety and stress. It has also been found to help lower blood pressure, improve the brain’s mental processing ability, and enhance brain function and our overall mental well-being.

The goal of meditation is to achieve a better sense of self-awareness and enlightenment, to be more in touch with ourselves at our core, and to free ourselves from nagging thoughts and unwanted stimuli or emotions.

TIPS FOR MEDITATION

Before you begin meditating, we have a few suggestions that we think could help really enhance the experience and allow you to fully unwind and focus.

1.) Turn Off Your Phone

Our phones cause enough distraction in our lives. Just like when you go into the movie theater, turn off your device before settling in for a relaxing meditation session. And yes, this also includes unpairing your smartwatch - getting notifications on that can serve as a huge distraction as well!

2.) Ambiance Matters

This may seem silly, but really setting the mood does matter. Make sure that you are in a quiet, calm space that is free of distractions or possible interruptions. Dim the lights, light a candle or two, clear away clutter and get settled. If you like, maybe even find some soft music, something instrumental, that can help you unwind.

3.) Stretch and Warm-up

Prior to starting your meditation session, a little warm-up can help increase blood circulation for relaxation. Start off by doing a few basic stretches, such as crossing your arms over your chest or touching your toes. Try out a few simple yoga poses as well to get your body moving before you settle down.

4.) Get Comfortable

When we’re uncomfortable, it’s all we tend to think about. The itchy tag on our t-shirt or the way our sock has slid halfway down our foot inside of our shoe. Yikes! Little things like this can make it extremely hard to focus. So before you sit down, make sure you are wearing comfortable clothing and have a yoga mat or cushion.

NOOTROPICS AND MEDITATION

One nootropics benefit includes its ability to aid in activating certain brain chemicals while also shielding the brain from stress and anxiety. Since this is also a goal of meditation, it is easy to see why these two go together like peanut butter and jelly.

At Seismic6, our product is chock-full of all-natural vitamins, minerals, and herbs that are necessary for stimulating these specific brain chemicals.

Whether you are new to mediation, or you have tried meditation before in the past and didn’t have much success, we suggest harnessing the power of nootropics to help make the experience a better one. By increasing your focus and cutting back on stress, you will feel more equipped to really clear your mind and achieve a more concentrated sense of enlightenment.

Thanks to Seismic6, taking nootropics has never been easier. Simply add a powdered packet to a bottle of water once a day, and you will be well on your way to feeling more focused, better energized, and overall healthier.
