Micro-Filtered Immune Milk As COVID-19 Defense

Posted by Bobby Brown on June 11, 2021 - 5:06pm

A natural immune milk derived from cows may offer protection from coronavirus, says a report in Frontiers in Immunology.

Transfer of passive immunity associated with the consumption of bovine immune milk by humans has been investigated for decades for its immunological activity against infections. The polio vaccine was isolated from bovine colostrum (BC).

“Immune milk,” is actually microfiltered BC, which is a source of antibodies and immunoglobulins (IgG) that have been exposed to the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 or other closely related coronavirus-related infections of the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. Whether these immune factors are obtained from BC or from recovered coronavirus patients, they could help in the protection against COVID-19 and boost the immune system enough to help individuals ward off infection. In fact, the antibodies from BC are so biologically identical to those in human plasma the body uses them interchangeably. Yet, they are far more widely available as they can be obtained from herds of exposed cows. Cows are likely to combat COVID-19 infection as their immune systems deal with very similar coronaviruses already. Once their antibodies have been exposed to the COVID-19 coronavirus, these antibodies pass on their intelligence to the baby calf, child, or infants, teens, and adults who also partake of the golden milky fluid.

“Passive immunity by immunoglobulin transfer is a concept employed by most mammals and bovine IgG has a role to play in human therapy,” says study author Jawhara Samir.

“It is well-known that bovine colostrum and cow's milk are highly rich in IgG that binds to many gastrointestinal and respiratory pathogens that infect humans, supporting cross-species activity between bovine and human IgG,” says Dr. Samir. “Microfiltered raw immune milk or colostrum collected from cows vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 could provide short-term protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection in humans and could be used as an option until a vaccine becomes commercially available.”

BC As Immunity Boost

Another concept is cross-reactivity. This occurs when an antibody attackes a pathogen it has never seen before but for which it has experience.

Because cows are routinely exposed to coronaviruses infecting the respiratory and gastrointestinal tissues, their immune systems contain experienced antibodies and IgGs. COVID-19 bears a strong enough smiliarity to these coronaviruses that cow antibodies use their prior experience and intelligence to recognize the new intruder as a pathogen too. Six-hour colostrum, humanely harvested only from the fluid that is leftover after the calves have reached their capacity, is particularly rich in IgG and antibodies, according to testing.
