Most of us feel sad or blue now and again. Letting yourself feel what you feel instead of blocking it or struggling against it may be a way to let it pass.
In our society, a significant percentage of the population is taking prescription medication for mood and anxiety issues.
If you are one of those individuals and would like to add some lifestyle components that could help boost your mood further, or if you are not in that situation but just want to feel a little better you might try some of these approaches:
1. Get some natural sunlight every day
I suggest trying to get 30 minutes in the morning. It not only brightens your day, it’s also a natural way for your body to make vitamin D.
2. Be active
Regular exercise of any kind has been shown to reliably boost mood.
3. Avoid alcohol and drugs
While they may temporarily make you feel better, over time they worsen the situation. The first thing to do when you find yourself in a hole is to stop digging, so stay out of the alcohol and drug trap.
