Natural Remedies to Keep Your Body Well

Natural Remedies to Keep Your Body Well

Whole Body Wellness

When you aren’t feeling well, it is often instinctive to either go to the doctor or reach for over-the-counter medications. At the slightest hint of a cold, you might dig through your medicine cabinet for cough medicine. If you have a headache, you may reach for pain relievers. Over-the-counter and prescribed medications do help alleviate these symptoms, but there are also ways to restore wellness to your body using natural remedies.

Ginger and Garlic

You’re feeling achy all over, with a headache coming on and some scratchiness in the back of your throat. You think you may have picked up a bug of some sort. You may be surprised to learn that if you keep garlic and ginger on hand, no other medicine may be required. Garlic is a powerhouse when it comes to natural remedies. It is anti-fungal, antibacterial and it’s a natural antibiotic.

For flus and colds, garlic is always the answer. In addition, ginger is a wonderful remedy for taking care of nausea and stomach pain. This is often why many people drink ginger ale when they’re recovering from the flu.

Chamomile

Are you having trouble sleeping? Do you have a fever? Chamomile is exactly what you need. A nice, warm cup of tea is the best way to consume chamomile. It helps to calm your nerves and reduce stress, and it’s even great for helping you get to sleep if you’re feeling restless. Additionally, if you happen to develop pink eye, soak a tea bag of chamomile in water, squeeze out the excess and put it over your eye for about 10 minutes. Do this several times a day until the pink eye is gone.

Drink More Water

There are multiple benefits to hydrating your body with water. Our bodies are made of 70 percent water, which needs to be replenished each day. If you find that you are tired and sluggish or if you feel like a headache is coming on, try drinking a tall glass of cold to room temperature water, and make sure that you are drinking at least 64 ounces each day.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is not a favorite among taste tests, but it can cure many ailments. Many people drink 1 to 2 tablespoons of it every morning to keep flu and cold germs at bay. It is a natural fighter of bacteria and viruses, and it helps to restore energy and reduce headaches. If you hate the taste, diluting the vinegar in water first and adding some lemon and honey sometimes helps. You can also add apple cider vinegar to salad dressings and smoothies.

Rest and Sleep

Sometimes, all you need to recover is a nap or a good night’s rest. Sleep is underrated when it comes to wellness. Most men and women need eight hours of sleep each night, but some people require more. In addition, taking a nap might seem like a cop out in the middle of the afternoon, but the rejuvenation you’ll feel after the nap might be just the energizer you need to feel better.
