Oreos may be as addictive as cocaine: If you find Oreos irresistible, you’re not alone. A new study in rats shows that “eating the iconic black and white cookies activated more neurons in the rat brain’s ‘pleasure center’ than drugs such as cocaine.” Like many humans, the rats also showed a preference for eating the creamy center first. The researchers stated that “these findings suggest that high fat/sugar foods and drugs of abuse trigger brain addictive processes to the same degree.”
Eating bacon lowers sperm quality, study shows: Men trying to maximize their fertility may want to pay attention to their diet. A new study shows that “men who consumed more than half a portion of processed meats such as bacon each day had significantly lower levels of ‘normal’ sperm.” Researchers also found that men who ate more fish had higher sperm quality.
