Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock.

Posted by Bobby Brown on February 07, 2020 - 7:15pm

A SCENIC CRUISE DOWN LYSEFJORD PAST PULPIT ROCK

Travel one of Norway’s most stunning fjords to a breathtaking natural wonder: Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock. Embark a local sightseeing boat right next to your ship and set off into the Stavanger archipelago. You can admire the many Stavanger vacation homes on these small islets as you pass. Leaving the archipelago, you will enter Lysefjord. Its name (“light fjord”) comes from the lightly colored granite rock rising from the waters. As you cruise, you can gaze up nearly 2,000 feet at the famous Pulpit Rock. A popular destination for hikers, this incredible rock formation juts out above the fjord. Your cruise takes you directly underneath and past some towering waterfalls. Before returning to Stavanger, you will pause and disembark at an idyllic beach at Helleren to go ashore for waffles, best served with cream and sweet jams. Warm clothing is advised in case of cool weather.
