Immerse yourself in the central feature of Lofoten’s history, heading out to sea to experience real Lofot fishing. Join professionals on a fiskeskøyte, a traditional Norwegian wooden boat. Walk the short distance from the ship to the vessel where you will be welcomed on board by the skipper and crew, who will know where the best fishing spots are located and have planned a route according to the weather conditions. After a safety briefing, advice and coaching from the skipper, use traditional Norwegian fishing equipment to catch various fish including cod, pollock and mackerel, just as local fishermen have done for hundreds of years. There will also be time for sightseeing, photography and gazing at the shores of the Lofoten Islands from the sea. You may also spot sea eagles and other birds during your trip. Afterward, the boat will return you to the pier. Suitably warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear should be worn.
