In a time where there has been so much growth and rank advancement, it is certainly a time for celebration.. but it can also be a confronting time for those who feel stuck.

It is part of human nature to compare ourselves with others and sometimes that comparison can work in our favor, while at some other times it can be demotivating.  As we watch our peers advance, it is only natural to ask questions such as, “am I doing something wrong?” or “am I being left behind?” Is there something that I could be doing better?

The problem with comparison is that it is never linear nor fair. We generally measure ourselves in a valley, against someone who is on a peak. We don’t look behind the curtain, we don’t have insight into their darkest days.  We don't get to watch them struggling. We simply look at one moment and dismiss the journey that brought them there.

If you are going to compare, compare yourself to who you used to be. Celebrate the growth and the progress, no matter how small it may seem. Compare yourself to your future version and be excited about the opportunity in your hand. Compare yourself to how your life might have been without this amazing business and be proud of the journey you are on, rather than obsess on whether you have already arrived.

Success is not a destination, but it is an attitude and a way of life. A rank does not define you - your thinking and mentality does. A leader grows not in big moments, but in the succession of little steps.  Cheer those around you that are winning, but don’t forget to cheer yourself for what you can do today.
