Super Foods for Arthritis

Posted by Bobby Brown on May 21, 2021 - 10:52am

Arthritis is the medical term for joint inflammation. Anyone who feels any stiffness or pain on the hands and legs when trying to move around is likely to have developed arthritis. Arthritis is not however a single disease—it is the general term for the many disorders that may pertain to the joints of the body.

Osteoarthritis is one of the most common forms of this disease and usually affects the elderly. Arthritis is something that can be prevented though. There are foods which are proven to be of help in battling arthritis. Include them in your diet and your chances of developing arthritis in the long run will likely decrease. See below for the list of these arthritis-preventing foods you can eat:

1. Banana

Bananas are laden with potassium and magnesium which are essential in increasing bone density. Presence of magnesium in the body also alleviates the many symptoms of arthritis. Bone-demineralization is one of the causes of arthritis, and eating bananas may help stave off this problem.

2. Blueberries

Blueberries bear a high content of antioxidants that boost the body’s immune system. Research has also shown that regular consumption of berries can help decrease the inflammation of joints.

3. Salmon

Salmon is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids. This fatty acid is known to decrease the swelling in the joints and also lowers the duration of the joints’ stiffness especially during mornings.

4. Green tea

Green also has a reserve of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. The key ingredients of green tea have the capacity to inhibit the enzymes and chemicals that are responsible for the breakage and deterioration of bone cartilages.

5. Orange juice

Like any other fruit juices, this one is packed with vitamin C—an essential element in making cartilages stronger.

6. Tofu

Tofu contains high level of soy proteins; something that is proven to prevent the development of osteoarthritis. Soy proteins are best in treating knee-joint inflammation.

7. Peanut Butter

This creamy concoction contains niacinamide—a form of Vitamin B3 that improves joint mobility. Vitamin B3 also helps in reducing joint inflammation which makes eating peanut butter a great tasking way to battle arthritis.

8. Whole Grain Breads and Cereals

Whole grain breads contain significantly low levels of C proteins, something that is known to cause rheumatoid arthritis. Consuming these kinds of breads and cereals aids in making your body more flexible which may relieve your body from the pain of morning stiffness.
