Experience a romantic, stately Scottish Highlands home, and see the site of the last battle fought on British soil. You will travel first to Cawdor Castle, reputedly Macbeth’s castle, where the murder of Duncan took place. The 14th-century residence of the Thanes of Cawdor is home to the Cawdor family to this day, and features a fine collection of rare tapestries, portraits, furniture, as well as lovely gardens and manicured grounds. You will have the chance to tour this ancient castle at your leisure (although your guide and castle stewards are available to answer questions). Then, you will continue on to the famous battlefield of Culloden. Here, you will learn about the 1746 battle that took place between Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Duke of Cumberland. You can view the informative exhibit and film in the visitor center, and even walk out onto the actual battlefield for a true taste of history.
