The Adventure Ocean

Posted by Bobby Brown on February 10, 2020 - 5:57am

will be the first ‘Royal Amplified’ ship to homeport in Rome, Italy following a US$110 million renovation in 2020.

Following the refurbishment that is part of Royal Caribbean International’s US$1 billion Royal Amplified programme, Explorer of the Seas will offer new onboard entertainment options, such as glow-in-the-dark laser tag, the rejuvenated adults-only Solarium, and the Perfect Storm duo of racer waterslides, which will be located on the top deck. The top deck will also have a reimagined poolscape with resort-style decor and a wider variety of seating, including hammocks, daybeds, casitas and in-pool loungers.

Guests will also benefit from a new three-level poolside bar named The Lime & Coconut, which will serve cocktails and host live music. Other new dining venues will include the poolside Johnny Rockets Express eatery, Starbucks and the Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, which will have 52 televisions for showing sports games. Royal Caribbean will also reimagine its signature Italian restaurant to create Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen, which will offer casual seating, hand-tossed pizzas and an improved menu.

The Adventure Ocean area will also be redesigned with a new layout and offer immersive activities for children aged three to 12 years old. The exclusive area for teenagers will have a new private outdoor deck and facilities for playing movies, games and music.

Explorer of the Seas will begin homeporting in Rome from 7 May 2020 and offer seven- to nine-night itineraries to Italy and the Greek Isles. The ship will be joined in the Mediterranean by Allure of the Seas, which will also undergo a Royal Amplified transformation early next year before beginning a homeporting season in Barcelona, Spain from May 2020.

After completing her Mediterranean season, Explorer of the Seas will reposition to the Caribbean to offer five- and nine-night Eastern and Southern Caribbean roundtrips from PortMiami, Florida. These sailings will include calls at Royal Caribbean’s new private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
