Three Or More Eggs A Day

Posted by Bobby Brown on July 16, 2020 - 10:48am

People who eat three or more eggs a day have a higher risk of heart disease and early death, according to new research. The study, published Friday in the medical journal JAMA, looked at six different study groups of more than 29,000 people. It found that people who consumed 300 mg of dietary cholesterol daily had a "3.2 percent higher risk of heart disease and a 4.4 percent higher risk of early death."

When your cholesterol is high, it causes plaque buildup in your arteries, which can make it more difficult for blood to flow through your body. This could, in turn, cause plaque rupture or a clots to form — both of which can cause a heart attack.

There are no symptoms of high cholesterol and it can only be detected if you have a blood test. The easiest way to lower your cholesterol is through a healthy diet and regular exercise.

Study co-author Norrina Allen said the findings aren't meant to scare people into never eating eggs again. Instead, the study is meant to suggest people eat them in moderation. If eggs are a main source of protein in your diet, consider eating alternative forms a couple of times a week. Greek yogurt, almonds, and salmon can keep you full and also keep you healthy.
