TIme Is An Asset

Posted by Bobby Brown on May 25, 2023 - 12:08pm Edited 5/25 at 12:19pm

Time is the only asset that we have that we're always losing and can never gain more of and because of this we must treat it as the precious gift it is.

We must value our time and be wise with how we use it because otherwise, we will just waste our time and before we know it our time will be up.

Stoics believe that we should treat and value our time just as we do our material possessions, if not more.

Stoicism is an ancient Greek philosophy for life that, "teaches the development of self-control and fortitude as a means of overcoming destructive emotions; the philosophy holds that becoming a clear and unbiased thinker allows one to understand the universal reason".

While Stoicism does have it's flaws their reverence for time, is advice I believe we should all listen too since most of us tend to just waste away our days doing pointless activities as though we have an infinite amount of time.

Treating our time this way is dangerous and harmful because this causes us to procrastinate and as we procrastinate our days, we end up procrastinating our entire lives, never truly living up to our full potential.

We live as though we have all the time in the world when in reality we aren't guaranteed another second.

This realization needs to be an awakening for us so that we may cherish our time here and live in the present moment.

We want to be wise and take care of ourselves as though we're going to live a long life, while simultaneously cherishing each moment and acting as though it may be our last.

We want to plan for our future but not always be so caught up worrying about our future that we forget to enjoy the present and let our lives skip right past us.

Ideally, we want to make decisions that are beneficial for both our present and future selves.

If on a day to day, moment to moment basis we're being fully present and taking care of ourselves and our responsibilities we won't have to worry about our future because we know we will be able to take care of whatever new responsibilities come our way.

By taking care of business we also give ourselves much needed leisure time that we can enjoy without feeling bad or anxious for taking it, but when we do take this leisure time be fully present during that time as well.

If you're watching a movie put your phone in the other room and fully immerse yourself in that movie and see how much more enjoyable of an experience it is.

Our lives are just made up of many moments so we need to start appreciating and valuing all of these moments because we never know when our last moment will be!

SO TODAY CHOOSE TO BE PRESENT

CHOOSE TO VALUE YOUR TIME

AND CHOOSE TO LOVE LIFE!!!
