You may have heard the saying, “to get things you’ve never had, you need to do things you’ve never done.” We are filled with infinite potential, but to reach this potential we need to get outside our comfort zone and force ourselves to grow.
Oftentimes, when we try to get outside our comfort zone and challenge ourselves we are met with what Bob Proctor calls a “terror barrier.” It is the reasoning or conscious mind that tells us why we can’t do what it is we are trying to do. So, how do we push through this terror barrier?
The first step is understanding that our initial reaction to anything uncomfortable is going to be mental resistance. Catching the voices of our internal gremlins when they happen is key. If you don’t catch and ease these voices, you will ultimately internalize this doubt and worry and it will manifest as fear and anxiety. Once fear and anxiety sets in, it becomes difficult for you to build the courage up to try again.
The second step is understanding that one temporary defeat does not mean permanent failure. It is a growth opportunity - a mere detour in the great journey you are on! Understanding that failure and adversity are inevitable makes it so much easier to accept them! The temporary defeat does not define you as a person, how you respond to it does!
Make an effort this week to push yourself outside your comfort zone. Maybe reach out to that doctor you’ve had on your list for 4 years. Or put your hand up to run a training. Or reach out to your upline for some help and accountability. Ultimately, your success is defined by how hard you are willing to push yourself. Today, you are exactly where you decided to be. Where do you want to be tomorrow and what are you willing to do to get there?
