The five love languages of an entrepreneur
By Julie Stoian
You've heard this before right? The five love languages in relationships?
It's...
But today I was talking to a client and realized that there are love language expressions for entrepreneurs and CEO's too. And wouldn't it be nice to know what really lights you up, motivates you to keep going, and gets you through hard times?
I present to you.. the five love languages of an entrepreneur.
1. Testimonials
What happens when you receive an awesome email or feedback from a client or customer? Does it make it all worth it to you? Does it light you up? If so, work more SOP's into your business that get your customers talking - from email replies, easy feedback surveys, engaging comments, and more.
2. An Organized Google Drive
You could really swap out Google Drive for anything - Asana checklist, Trello board, Basecamp project. Do you feel like working more when things are organized and in their rightful place? Perhaps it's time to hire a PM or an EA who can hand you a beautiful shiny checklist each morning that has you feeling productive and efficient.
3. Masterminding with Colleagues
When you're feeling low, give you a whiteboard and some fellow entrepreneurs. You need people. You need to see them, touch them, hear them, and connect. Deeply. If this is you, make sure you're a part of a mastermind, have a coach, run team retreats. Set up your business so you're regularly connecting.
4. Time Off
The best way to put this is... space. You need space. Time to garden or cook or read or stare up at the sky. You hate being rushed, and know that if you explore that creative playful side to you, you'll come back more refreshed. Evaluate your business model here because some don't lend itself to time off.
5. Awards
Two comma club award here I come. Inc 5000. Forbes under 30. Whatever accolades you can amass, it drives you to hit that next goal and milestone. Having a tangible "win" to push towards will give you the momentum and energy you need when times are tough.
So I'm curious, if you were to rank them 1-5... what would they look like?
For me, I would definitely say it's 1,2,3,4,5. Right in order from most important to least. How about you?
