Your Crypto Portfolio Looks Like a Horror Movie (And We Have Receipts)

Posted by Chris Corey on June 20, 2026 - 12:44am

It Started With "Just a Little FOMO"

We've all been there. It's 2 AM. You're on your third energy drink. Someone in a Telegram group says "this coin is going to 100x by Thursday." You've done exactly zero research, but the logo looks cool and the name has an animal in it. You're in.

Fast forward three weeks. That coin is down 87%. The Telegram group is gone. The dev's profile picture was a stock photo. The animal in the name was a red flag, not a rally cry.

The Five Stages of a Bad Crypto Trade

Stage 1 – Euphoria: "I'm basically a genius. Why does anyone work a day job?"

Stage 2 – Denial: "It's just a dip. Diamond hands. This is fine."

Stage 3 – Bargaining: "If it goes back to my entry price, I'll sell everything and never touch crypto again."

Stage 4 – Despair: "I'm going to learn woodworking. Crypto was a mistake."

Stage 5 – Re-entry: "Okay but hear me out — this new one has a dog AND a rocket in the logo."

Things More Reliable Than Unvetted Crypto Twitter Calls

A coin flip. Your neighbor's weather opinion. The fortune inside a gas station cookie. That guy who's been "about to launch his NFT project" since 2021.

We're not saying all signals are noise. We're saying most unvetted Telegram alpha is noise wearing a lab coat. The real edge comes from reading whitepapers, understanding tokenomics, watching on-chain data, and having a risk plan before you hit buy.

So What Does the MCG Crew Actually Do?

We laugh at the chaos, yes. But we also do the homework. We look at total supply versus circulating supply. We check whether the team is doxxed. We read the actual roadmap instead of just the Discord hype. We ask the uncomfortable question: "Who is this token for, and why would anyone want it in six months?"

That's the MCG difference. We're here to help you survive crypto long enough to actually benefit from it — not to sell you dreams at 2 AM with a cartoon mascot.

Your Homework for This Week

Pick one project in your portfolio you bought on vibes alone. Look it up on DeFiLlama or Token Terminal. Check the last 90 days of on-chain activity. Is there real usage, or is it tumbleweeds?

If it's tumbleweeds, that's useful data. If it's growing, also useful. The point is: know what you own.

The horror movie doesn't have to end badly — if you turn on the lights.
